Verbal Communication is a basic foundational skill needed to gain access to things we want and the world around us. Often the root of a child’s behavioral concerns are simply a deficit in communication, as many times they will act out in an attempt to make their wants and needs known to those around them. At Indigo Kids, a heavy focus of therapy sessions will be on teaching your child how to communicate through the most effective communication mode for them. Varying modes of verbal communication may be taught, such as vocal language, sign language, use of augmentative devices or the picture exchange communication system (PECS).
